Summary
This reports includes mapping of value chain networks, including geographical locations and material flows between the actors, emissions, and costs associated with transportation of materials. Comparing the decentralized and centralized value chain networks, the most optimal network designs within I-US will be defined using mixed integer linear optimization method. The potential for (re)allocating pre-treatment plants to minimize environmental impacts and emissions associated with transportation will be estimated. The model will be set up using available data from literature and databases (Eurostat, national statistics), the scenarios will be verified through the pilots to examine patterns at regional scale. Each of the AshCycle I-US pilots will be described in terms of residue/resource flow and modelled applying the indicators and measures developed in Task 1.2. To measure the scalability and the potential environmental and societal impact of creating the AshCycle I-US, we will develop a set of indicators to be used for modelling the environmental, economic, and societal impact of the pilots and the scalability potential.
